Remus merely stared, stood, frozen to the spot. He wasn't used to people coming up and telling him... All that sort of stuff. It was unusual and Remus didn't know how to deal with it when Lily began to cry. His first thought was to hug her, but that would mean getting..- Close. And when sensitive ears heard Lily's almost silent sobs, Remus, in all words, cracked. He blinked rapidly, watching Lily for a moment, before embracing her gently. "Sshh. It's all right. Don't cry, okay, Lily? Don't cry."

"I...I can't help it." Lily breathed out quietly as Remus held her. Her own arms remained limply at her sides as she shut her eyes and took comfort from the closeness of another body. James Potter didn't deserve her tears, he was just another immature boy trying to fulfill his 'manly urges,' which Lily found rather disgusting. "Why did he have to do that? Right when I thought he had changed and was ready to give him a chance." Lily said quietly as she brushed the tears off her cheeks, the hard outline of tear stains still present upon her face, her emerald eyes remained firmly shut as she sighed, it wasn't fair.

Remus wasn't exactly sure what to say. Both Lily and James were his friends, so how could he comfort Lily? "I know," He whispered uselessly, hugging Lily close again his chest, long arms wrapped around her, trying hard to comfort. "It's all right." Jeez, Remus never was any good at comforting people. Why, he didn't know. It was just one of the things he wasn't any good at. Resting his head a top Lily's own, and gently swaying from side to side in a slightly comforting way, Remus made soft 'sssh'ing sounds.

Lily remained in Remus' arms, for how long, she did not know but at some point in time she put her own arms around his body as she returned the embrace. A light-headed, sleepy Lily had her eyes closed and her heavy head leant on Remus' body. Her mouth mumbled incoherent words as she tried to banish the mental image of Potter and 'that girl' out of her mind.
And what did he mean 'I was thinking of you'? So he was just using her to picture Lily? That was sick. Through Potter's eyes there must be a hundred 'Lily's' dashing around the school! Her hands bunched up into fists, her knuckles turning white as her nails dug into her fleshy palm. He wound her up so much! She was jsut another of Potter and Black's pranks. Like when Sirius had dared Potter to ask one of the girls in Ravenclaw out, for a laugh! The girl had actually thought she had a chance with James and he was just playing with her heartstrings because he knew he could?! The big headed ass! It just wasn't right that Potter could get away with it. Snapping her eyes open, Lily peered over Remus' shoulder, half-expecting to see him stood there with a great, dirty smirk on his face. Lily berated herself for falling for his act. The one thing she had promised herself she wouldn't EVER do. Well it looked like James had won, but he wasn't going away with his 'prize.'
Lily reached up with one hand to take out her auburn locks from their restraining ribbon as her head started to pound in the beginnings of a migrane. Lily wiped away the last few tears and pulled away from Remus. "I guess I'll be alright, it's just....I can't believe he's going to get away with playing me and that other girl." Lily said angrily, momentarily unaware that Remus was in fact his best friend and here she was saying she hated him and wanted revenge.
Sitting on the previously occupied window sill, Lily brushed her cheeks once more to make sure all traces of her tears were gone. There were plenty more fish in the sea, more pebbles on the beach more...yeah well there were, to put it plainly, lots more boys than just James Potter. Her usual feeling of anger and dislike welled in the pit of her stomach as she thought of that name. This is more like it, she thought as she felt the bubble in her tummy appear again. So maybe she had softened towards James a littlt bit, but she was a young girl, and very fickle. Feelings change, as Lily's did. In that short half an hour, Lily had gone from one end of the scale to the other.
"How are you, anyway, Remus?" Lily asked, suddenly remembering her manners as she motioned the other side of the window sill for him to sit on.

Remus obliged, sitting down opposite Lily. "I'm all right. Bored-- untill you came along, I guess. The Library's closed. Paintbombs or something of the like." Remus sighed, glancing at Lily, amber eyes downcast. "I won't ask how you are, though, Lily." Remus smiled slightly, uttering a soft 'Hehh..'. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous- his calm had broken suddenly, and it confused him. Remus sighed softly, looking at Lily yet again.

Paintbombs? I wonder who that was? Lily thought sarcastically, though didn't voice her opinions. "That's a shame about the library. I pet Madam Pince was really angry." Lily said with a faint laugh as she imagined the middle aged witch walking into the library to meet the sight that faced her. Lily forced a smile to appear on her thin lips as she heard Remus' comment about how she was feeling. "Mmmm, I'm alright now. I think I was just disappointed, in myself." She said as she rubbed her head.

"That's all right, then," Remus smiled slightly. "As long as you're all right, I guess." Remus sighed softly, shaking his head. "It doesn't sound like something James would do, though. That's the thing. I mean-- he's real considering and stuff. Good at judging and stuff." Amber eyes glittered, locking onto Lily's suddenly, as if searching her eyes-- her soul. Perhaps such a thing was possible. But not for a Third Year Gryffindor.

Lily nodded her head mutely as she remembered all of the reasons she ahd thought he'd changed. Realiseing her feelings could slip back into what they had been, as quickly as they had slipped out, Lily shook her head. "Can we talk about someting else, anything else?" Lily asked as she quickly tore her mind from Potter's hair and eyes. The way he'd looked so sorry. No. She wasn't going to just let this one slide. It was too much to ask of anyone.

Sirius lay on the bed, a heavy tombe placed on the mattress before him. The wya in which he read was in a never-ending cycle. Turn page. Study intently. Glance over once more. Nod. Scribble down a note on the parchement that partnered the book. Turn the page. And so on.
If he were to be truthful, it was a cycle that Sirius was becoming increasingly bored of. In fact, he almost found himself longing for a distraction.
Luckily for him, that distraction came.
"Sirius Black..." The hoarse whisper floated into the teen's mind causing him to look up, senses alerted. "Sirius Black..." Sirius considered the voice for a moment, brow furrowed. But then realisation dawned upon him. Triumphhantly the boy groped under his bed, swiftly pulling out a small mirror. "At your service!" he laughed, peering through its smoke-dusted surface, "What do you want, mate?"

"Sure," Remus nodded, eyes closing. Though truthfully, what was there to say? Not much, in Remus' case. And what would Lily /like/ to talk about? Remus didn't know, so that didn't help. "What would you /like/ to talk about, Lily?" The pale boy asked her, tilting his head to the side slightly, eyes studying Lily curiously and intently, auburn locks falling to the side. "I'm not that good at conversations, see."

Lily turned to look at him and cocked her head. "You have really pretty eyes, you know." Lily said, the first thought that had come into her mind and she decided to speak it out loud. "I never really noticed them before, they're really amber aren't they?" Lily asked as her brow creased into a frown and she continued to stare at his large eyes. She always seemed to notice eyes. They were what really told you how they felt. They were what really told you what you wanted to know.

Remus blinked rapidly, his breath catching in his throat for a moment, feeling suddenly like a caged animal. Why? Because this would probably lead to a conversation he didn't want to have. What? His illness. "They are-- amber, I mean. I don't think they're that pretty. Just.. Odd, I guess." Remus shrugged, barely lifting and dropping one shoulder.

"No, they are pretty." Lily insisted as she took one more look at them and turned away. "I suppose any pair of eyes are beautiful if you look at them for long enough." The young girl replied dreamily as her mind wandered. Sensing his unease at the topic she changed the subject to something else. "Do you know when the next Hogsmeade weekend is?" She asked as her hands entwined themselves together, her long fingers wrapping around her other pale digits.

Remus shook his head, glancing at Lily. "No, I don't, I'm afraid. Why do you ask?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side yet again. He really needed to go to the Library. No, scratch that. He really /wanted/ to go to the Library. It wasn't a life or death thing, he just wanted to go to the Library and see who had set off all the paintbombs. Probably Sirius and James, but Remus wasn't totally sure.

Lily shrugged, "I need to buy some new gloves, I lost my old ones." She said simply as she wrung her hands together. Why did she have the worst taste in boys? First Tobias who said he never felt anything for her, and now Potter? Well Potter, didn't count, she had only liked him in an hour of weakness and now she hated him again. "I must've done something horrible in my past lives. Why does no one like me for who I am?" She asked quietly as the feeling welled up from the pit of her heart. She didn't expect anyone to love her but nobody had simply /liked/ her for who she was. Why? Was it something she had done? Did she just give off these vibrations that told people to hurt her? Whatever it was she wished it would stop.
