OoC:// Hi!! Hope you all won't mind Jason popping in, he loves popping in. Jason : I do not!!
BiC:// A raven-haired Gryffindor nearly dropped his book as he roused dreamily out of his catnap. He hadn’t been paying attention, which was unlikely for him. Luckily, he often sleeps with one ear open, and that particular ear heard two words: palm reading. Oh yeah, lucky…Lucky to be awake just when the teachers needs us to do work.
Now, this Gryffindor is Jason Pattew. Sure, he was studious, but anybody who joins Divination, no matter how studious, would most probably end up asleep on the table. He had already finished reading their text book, if you can call it a text book, and thinks that Divination is too much of a guessing work subject, no concrete facts. Oh well, can’t hurt to increase one’s knowledge.
Standing up and stretching slightly as not to catch the teacher’s eye, Jason scanned the room for a partner, any partner. He noticed a few stranglers here and there but he did not know whether he should go over and join them or not.

//Nyaww. Devin feels loved! -looks at Devvy's picture- Whoa.. Lily, hate to break it to you but you have really bad taste. This is the ugliest thing I've ever seen! Devin: -thwacks me over the head with a baseball bat- Me: ACK! PAAAIIN! Don't you think I've lost enough brain cells because of you? Devin: You never had any in the first place. Me: -stuffs Devin into a bag-//
"Thanks. I'm not sure why I worked so hard on it. It's just a doodle after all." she said shrugging one shoulder. "Oh well, I guess I just get way too bored in this class."
"So.. Palm reading." Devin said looking into her text book. "This should be rather erm... interesting?" The girl had never had her palm read and had never read anyone else's for that matter. In fact, she didn't even know someone could read a body part.
She looked up, and noticed a boy sitting all by himself. He seemed to be looking around the room hoping to find a partner.
"I hate to be rude, and it was so nice of you to invite me to your table." she said looking at both the girls sitting in front of her. "But, I see someone over there who doesn't have a partner. Since we have extra people I hope you wouldn't mind if I went and helped him out?" she gestured toward Jason Pattew, a Gryffindor.

Jason stiffled yet another yawn. God, how he hated being in Divination, not that it is something personal, practically half the class hated Divination, or so Jason thought. Than why be here? For Jason, it was to 'widen his knowledge'; as for the others, well, he was no mind-reader so he does not know.
Turning slightly to his left, Jason spotted a bunch of girls and one of them was gesturing his way. Should he go over, or remain in his seat? Jason pondered over his choices as the girls continued to talk in hushed voice, (They are in Divination, after all).

//As Lily is currently gone -sniff sniff- I shall continue the board saying she told me I could go cause I'm just impatient like that. ;D//
With a few parting words to the group of girls she picked up her things and set off in the Gryffindor's direction. She finally reached his table, but did not set her things down on it, because she didn't want to be too intrusive. He hadn't really invited her there in the first place.
Surprisingly enough, Devin was at no loss for words, like she usually was when meeting someone new. "Hullo. I saw that you were sitting by yourself, and I'm sure that even the most talented student couldn't read his own palm, now could he?" She paused a moment and scowled as if thinking it over. "Or wait... Perhaps he could." after another short pause she quickly added, "But that's not the point I was trying to make. I was wondering if you needed a partner for this palm reading thing."
Her words didn't come out quite how she wanted them to and for a moment she was considering eating them back up and rewording it. That is, until a little voice in the back of her head reminded her Hey moron, thats impossible.

Jason looked at the girl before him with a rather amused expression on his face. Was it just him or do girls tend to ramble when they meet other people? Maybe it was just him. Smiling, Jason rose gracefully and offered the girl a seat. "I would be honored for you to be my partner. My name is Jason Pattew. Pleased to learn this erm..." He scrunched his nose slightly. "...interesting subject with you today." Jason smiled again, much more mischievously this time, so much so his eyes sparkled.
Looking at his own palm, Jason faintly remembered something about the right palm being the fated route of each person and the left being how one lives his or her life, or something like that. Shaking his head slightly, he looked at Devin. "So, where do we start?"

Devin watched slightly amused as the boy offered her a seat so... well, properly. He would be honored? Ha! This guy is joke. She thought to herself. Yet somehow, his formal manners were rather fun to watch, and in a sense charming. The only problem is she wasn't quite sure how to reply.
"Um.. Thanks. I would be erm... honored too?" the last words she said rather slowly and unsure, not knowing if it was quite what she was supposed to say. She sat down rather quickly and repressed an embarrassed blush. //Don't ask me how she's just special like that. 0.o//
Finally he broke the rather awkward silence between them. 'So where do we start?' Devin set her book on the table and opened it. "I think there's some sort of chart in here." she said while flipping through the pages. Devin had turned back a page. "Ha. Look at this,How to tell your future by the shape of your nose." she then looked up from the page with her dark eyes and at the boy sitting in front of her. "Who do you suppose comes up with this... shall we say fascinating information?"

Jason shrugged nonchalantly. "Some insane lunatic whose nose was so big, all he saw was his nose. One day, he banged into some other guy who laughed at his nose but felt sorry for him, apologized and offered him a huge amount of Galleons and so he concluded guys with big nose have a bright future." O-kay...Something has gotten into him. Why in the world did he even say that?? Oh well... the book did mention guys with big noses have bright futures... Almost unaware of him doing it, Jason touched his nose self-conciously.
"Anyway, let's get back to the topic at hand, shall we?" Jason grabbed his Divination textbook and flipped to the topic which read Your Future in your Hands. Arching his eyebrow at the rather comical title of the topic, he looked over at Devin, wondering if he should just grab her hand and start 'reading' it or if she should make the first move.

"Either that or he was in some sort of secret large-nosed institution, and was in charge of the Divination department." Devin beamed. For once someone was making some sense around here.
It was rather interesting that someone who acted so formal and proper (A.k.a the exact opposite of Devin) should say something that to her seemed like common sense. Never had she heard another person speak this way accept for herself, and whenever she did people gave her strange looks.
"Right, back to the books." Devin flipped to a page identical to the one in Jason's book. "So would you rather I read your palm first? I personally don't see that it really matters anyhow." she asked as her eyes skimmed over the page.

Jason shrugged and spoke in his wheezy imitation of the Divination teacher. "We-ll...Let's see what fate has in store for you, shall we, dearie? Oh my...*wheeze* You have a rather *wheeze* dreary future ahead of you, dearie. See *cough* this line here indicates you might *wheeze* die of laughter around ten minutes later" Jason began poking a random spot on Devin's palm. He had never let his guard down like this, especially not in class, but it sure felt great!!
"And over here, *cough* it clearly shows that you would bring an extreme change to those around you" Jason resumed his normal tone. "Why, how true it is. I feel so different, so... happy..." He ended it in a dreamy tone while his eyes sparkled with amusement.

Devin had to hold her other hand over her mouth to keep from laughing so loud that the teacher could hear her from the other end of the room. Her attempts to not laugh at all failed miserably.
After Jason's hilarious prediction, Devin was still managing to catch her breath from laughing. "That... was dead on. I swear you sounded just like her." She calmed down a bit, for she was getting a rather painful cramp in her side from trying not to laugh.
Once her partner had returned to his regular tone he said something that Devin found to be quite interesting. "So, you're saying that you don't feel happy very often? I couldn't imagine what how dreadful that must be." This boy didn't seem unhappy. In fact, he seemed quite cheerful. Perhaps she did make changes in people, or maybe he was just in need of a good time.
//Yeah same here. I basically based Devin off me, so that I have an excuse to be just me without being stared at like I have three heads. XD//

Jason smiled and bowed, well, bowed as much as he can while still seated in his chair. "Thank you, Mademoiselle. I would have stood up and bowed, unfortunately, that might require some effort as not to attract the attention of that extraordinarily large toa...I mean nice teacher over there." Yikes, he nearly called the teacher a toad. What was wrong with him?
Jason thought Devin's question over with a slight frown. "It is not that I am unhappy, but I..." Jason struggled for the word. "I tend to a bit of a stiff neck stick or whatever they call old English gentleman with the tendency of looking at you like you have sprouted three heads when you are rude. I seldom display acts of care freeness at home, less so in public. For some reasons, you seem to have that...aura which bring out, what we call the 'inner child' in me." He smiled, causing the premature crease near his eyes to smooth out. A few strands of grayish white hair fell out of place when he spoked and which he hastily pushed back.
{{Ha!! Quoted your 'three heads' statement. People, mostly my friends tend to call me a traditionalist, some of the ruder ones call me out-dated. >< In my dictionary, that means I'm individually different ^^}}

"Well, my good sir," she said with an intentional old fasioned flair. "I believe that if you don't get that stiff neck of yours cured you shall become so tense that you will snap in half."
When Jason started talking about bringing out the inner child in him she could not help but chuckle. "Your inner child? Perhaps all the fumes in here are getting to your head." she watched as a few strands of grey hair fell slowly out of place. "All I'm saying is you need loosen up once and a while unless of course you are yrying to add more grey hairs to that collection of yours."
She smiled at him and somewhere in his face she could see that he seemed to be surprised at the words coming out of his own mouth.

Jason smirked and pretended to crick his neck, which actually cricked quite loudly. "Ow... You are right, I might snap into two if I do not watch it." He rubbed his neck to emphasis his point.
Smiling, Jason thought it over. "Hmm... fumes getting to my head, logical enough to explain my behavior. Not that I am complaining much." He smiled and turned slightly redder than usual at Devin's comment on his hair. "Well, even if I try to loosen up a bit more, the hair will still grow gray prematurely." He shrugged nonchalantly. "Something due to inheritance, I believe."
{{Now that I think of it, my character seem to be a mixture of... I dunno, three other characters from other books? -checks- yup. Artemis Fowl, Larten Crepsley and Hercule Poirot. o.O and of course, me.^^}}

"I wouldn't complain either being in your situation. I'm sure it feels nice to let your guard down for a little while." she replied.
Seeing his blush of embarassement when she commented on his hair she quickly added. "Well we all have our physical flaws now don't we? I mean take my eyes for example. They-" she cut herself off. Oh shit! Why must you always talk so much?! Why? THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!
In a desperate attempt to change the subject Devin quickly said. "Let me try reading your palm, perhaps it will say whether you are to snap in half or not." she laughed, it was more out of nervousness then hilarity.
//Haha! Stupid Devin. She can't keep her mouth shut. Plus I'm still sort of punishing her for being so mean to some people in the Library. -snicker snicker-//

Jason looked curiously at Devin. What about her eyes? They seemed quite normal to him. Sensing her unease, he decided not to comment about it and kept his mouth shut so tightly, it begun to ache.
Looking at his palm, he nodded an o-kay to Devin. He never minded physical contact but somehow, he just felt, different around this girl, hopefully it is good different, not the other way around.
{{Aww... Poor Devin. Scary Jen...-backs away- easy now, that's right easy does it...}}
