Before James could hear Lily's rant, his attention was being taken away by her oh, so annoying best friend Anya. What was with it with that girl? Every time James tried to get close to Evans, Anya would come and rain on his parade.
Sighing, he broke eye contact with Miss Evans and looked over his shoulder, seeing the brunette girl edging his way, her brunette hair billowing behind her as she did so. James unfolded his arms and ran his fingers through his messy raven colored hair in a jagged path, making his originally sticky up hair even more untidy.
"I'm not pestering her," James said coolly, the glare on his glasses giving his facial features a certain unrealness. "She enjoys my company and I know it. Please tell her to stop pretending like she doesn't like me."
James then smirked, his hands folding across his chest once more, as he fixed his hazel hued optics back on Evans. "I'll buy you a little present if you do," he bribed, a grin forming on his lips. "Just come on, one butterbeer, on me." James would continue to press on until the dear girl said yes, James didn't know why Evans wouldn't realize that. Why was it that his cocky charm worked on almost every girl but not on the only girl that he desired? Somewhat of a curse, really.

Lily felt her nostrils flare in rage. How dare he speak about me as if I'm not even here? Miss Evans took one deep breath as she prepared to plough on with what she hoped was a strong answer, and her voice didn't shake with rage.
"You /are/ pestering me." With each sentence she stepped closer to him. "I /don't/ enjoy your company and /you/ know it. I'm /not/ pretending and I DON'T LIKE YOU!" She almost screamed the last bit out of pure impatience with this idiotic moron. She tried the anger management technique she had read about in a book called: 'Anger: How to Control It Even When the Most Annoying Boy On the Planet Decides He Wants To Make Your Life a Living Hell.'
1...2....3....4,5,6,10!
Okay so /that/ didn't work. "Tell you what. I'll buy you a little present if you just stay the hell away from me! Here, take this and buy yourself something shiny so you can look at your fathead in it!" She said as she pressed a galleon into his hand. "And I'll pass on the butterbeer." She whispered angrily as she finally turned her back on him to face her brunette friend.
"Hello Anya, m'dear. What are you doing here? I thought you'd gone to Hogsmeade." She said with a smile as she stepped forward to give her best friend a hug, whispering as she did so, "Thanks for coming to save me." 'Technique numer 2: Ignore said boy completely by talking to other people and turning your back on him.' Okay so she had already lost her temper, but she was cooling off now and then the ignoring strategy would come into play. Hopefully.

Anya couldn't help but smile at Lily's rage. She, being a seer, had once had a vision of Lily and James together. But she would /never/ tell Lils. "See, Mister Pothea- I mean Potter? I'm right. You /are/ pestering her." Never mess with the intellegence of a seer. Not that anyone but Professor Weave and Dumbledore knew about it.
"I had to stay behind. Talk to a couple teachers." She smirked again. "No problem. If it weren't for me Potter prolly would have tried to snog you again." This wasn't said as quietly as prolly should have been, but Anya could care less. The memory of one of the more recent encounters ran through the third years mind.
"Now, James. Why don't you run along inside.... if the doors are wide enough for your hunormous head." Hunormous was Anya's word for something exeedingly large, and she often used in in refernce to Potters head. Her blue eyes sparkled with amusement, waiting for a reply.

James rumpled up his raven colored hair again, an amused look in his hazel hued eyes. Oh, this was James' chance. It seemed as if every syllable that Lily pronounced that she took a small step closer to James. Ah, he loved his girls fiesty. Evans, you are such the card.
Lily turned her back on him and James smirked, actually he had been smirking a lot lately, as he wrapped his arms around Lily's waist just as soon as she was close enough for him to touch her, and turned her around quickly. And then, as quickly as he could, he placed a soft kiss on her lips, hoping that Lily wouldn't pull away before he did so. Ah, James knew Evans enjoyed that. "Lucky you, Evans," James mused in a cocky, deep tone. "You've just been kissed by James Potter. You'll be the envy of the ladies." James paused for a moment, backpedalling so that he could be ready when Lily would attempt to hex him.
James coughed, both of his eyebrows raising in amusement as he turned to face Anya, the widest of perfect white-toothed smiles flaunted on his face. "I daresay I just did, Anya, deary," James drawled in somewhat of a sing-song tone, yet trying to sound mature at the same time. James sighed lightly, impressed by his own success. "And by the way, you're supposed to get over the 'I don't know the word I'm trying to use so I'll make up my own' when you're about five or six. You're thirteen."
Ah, another daring comeback from the mouth of James Potter. James had never so proud of himself in his life. Alright, maybe he had. Well, he was /very/ proud, alright?
{I had to do it, Lils. It was the /perfect/ oppurtunity. Eeps. I think there was light powerplay there. Forgive me. I'll modify it again if you don't want it there.}

Lily stiffened as she felt arms being wrapped around her, and by James Potter no less! Her eyes widened as he placed a kiss on her shocked mouth and her face flooded red from the roots of her hair to her neck. Her brain told her to grab her wand and hex him into next month, but her heart told her something different.
Before all you romantics out there think she hold a torch for James let me extinguish that entirely. -Douses with water.- No. She didn't /enjoy/ it. In fact, the thing that her heart told her was to get him the muggle way.
And, for once, it was not with words.
Before she could fully process what she was doing, her hand whipped around and slapped him sharply across the face. "Don't you ever, EVER touch me again. Do you hear me Potter? If you so much as breathe near me, I'll curse you so bad that even /you/ will start to doubt your manhood." She said slowly and steadily as her eyes flashed with an anger beyond anything she could possibly describe coherently."The envy of all the ladies? Ha! I'll probably catch Potteritus!" She said as she physically spat on the ground and wiped her mouth with the back of her sleeve. "You make me sick, Potter." She hissed viciously as she turned on her heel and marched forward, grabbing hold of Anya's arm as she did so.
(No, no! Don't modify it! I loved it! xD Don't change it at all!)

James' hands shoved back into his pockets, his shoulders slumping slightly to show off a cool, but confident posture. Evans would prove to be an even more odd girl if she didn't like /that/.
James just couldn't get that smile off of his face. Acting unconcerned, he sighed once again, his gaze falling over to the lake, his hazel eyes catching upon the tentacle that just broke its once calm waters.
WHAM!
A stinging, throbbing pain was now in the left side of James' face. His quick reflexes caused his left hand to jump up to cradle his now scarlet side of his face, rubbing it gently as he winced. His optics darted over to a rather angry Lily Evans, her face looking very red, as well. But her face wasn't red from pain, it was red from anger. Or, she wanted James to think. James knew that she truly was blushing from the delight of the light kiss James had just given her.
"I make you sick in a good way!" James yelled as he continued to trail Lily, keeping a few paces behind her, and pretending like he felt no pain in his face whatsoever. A grin was plastered semi-fakely on his face. "What about that butterbeer, Evans? Please? Come on, I know you want to," James said in a whiny and deep voice, still yelling as he slithered behind the pair, his left hand still rubbing against his left cheek. Lily Evans /touched/ him. Ah, this day was growing better and better.

Lily stopped in her tracks once again. Why did it always feel like she was taking 3 steps forwards but 5 steps back? Inwardly she groaned, but outwardly she let out a muffled scream. She turned to Anya and muttered: "Is this boy deaf, or is he just plain stupid?" She asked in disbelief. She swivelled round on her heels so fast that her curtain of copper hair swung round and covered some of the left side of her face.
"If I spend one more minute with you I think I really /will/ be sick. Shut. up. Leave me alone. Bugger off back to the hole you crawled out of. Go pester someone else. Shove off, you git. You make me sick, in a bad way I might add. I don't want a butterbeer. I don't like you. I don't ever want to speak to you again. Go and piss someone else off to the extent they want to rip out your eyeballs." She said this all very slowly, as if explaining to a three year old, with a slight smile on her face, that didn't reach her enraged eyes. "Now,"
Her smile slowly turned into a scowl and she yelled at him. "Please tell me which one of them you didn't understand?!" She yelled at him, with so much force that she was forced to close her eyes from scrunching up her facial features. This boy just didn't get it did he? If she had to tell him /again/ to go and die quietly, then she might result to using her wand, and she /hated/ having to stoop to his level.

James Potter was a stubborn young man. Actually, he was a /very/ stubborn young man. It was a pity that Evans wouldn't realize that James would keep prodding her (in the figurative sense) until she cooperated with his ideas.
"Maybe I'll shut up if you let me buy you something at Hogsmeade," James stated in a business-like tone, just realizing that he had was pressing Lily's Galleon against his face. James pulled his hand away from his face, feeling a sharp, throbbing pain immediately as he did so, and placed the Galleon in his other hand. His left hand found its way back to James' face, as it hurt without the pressure of his hand against his cheek.
James sighed, his his eyes looking down at the Golden coin for a few moments, his peripheral vision caught Evans' scarlet hued hair, so he was still able to follow her. Thankfully, he hadn't run into any trees or anything. "Don't you want your Galleon back, Evans?" he inquired, still studying the large coin as he spoke.

"I don't want you to buy me anything. I don't want you to spend any money on me, okay? So don't waste your time and gold bothering, because whatever you send will probably end up in the bin or the fireplace."
Okay a bit harsh, but there was no other way this guy was going to see sense, was there? I mean seriously, how can you not take a hint like 'shove off, you git'? She flipped her hair over her shoulder before she stopped at his offer. "No, you keep it. As long as you've got it, you can't talk to me, okay?" She said as she scowled and carried on stomping up to the school. This was going to be a long evening.

Anya, the whole while, had been smiling slightly. They were so cute together! But not wanting to play the role of the backstabbing friend, she 'sprinted' into action. "Potter, get this through your thick head. Lily /doesn't/ like you. She never /will/ like you. She doesn't /want/ you to buy her /anything/."
Glancing at Lily, she sighed. "And I think he's both stupid /and/ deaf. Like all men, the only senses they use are sight and touch." A smirk found her way to the brunettes face. "Well, most men, anyway." Kai certainly wasn't like that.

James now quickened his pace and made it so he cut in between Anya and Lily, walking next to Lily and Anya, instead of trailing behind her. Lily was seemed angry and annoyed, walking to his right, and Anya, James didn't know what she felt like, on his left. She had this angry face on her facial features, but she didn't really seem angry, it almost seemed like she was faking it. Anyway, now they couldn't whisper rude remarks about James in the other friend's ear. James heard that whispering, by the way.
James finally managed to let his left arm rest at his side, deciding to bear with the slight pain that was left in his still scarlet face."I think you're wrong," James argued in a mock melancholy tone. As if James Potter could be depressed when he was talking to Evans, and she was talking back. "I think I can talk to you with this Galleon in my hand. Actually, I think I'm doing it right now." James' lips formed into a twisted grin as he used his took Lily's hand and pressed the five large, golden coins (obviously, only one was hers) into her palm, and then closed her fingers upon the money.
James turned to his left, the crazed grin on his face growing larger. "I don't know, An," James said playfully. "I'm pretty sure I use the sense of taste, too." James Potter, stupid? Nope. A stupid boy cannot get away with all the tricks and pranks James did on students, the school itself, and even teachers. James pulled off good grades without even trying or paying attention in class. Of course, his grades weren't as good as Lily's or Remus', but they both tried. If James wanted to try, he could easily get better grades than Lily.
{This post is a bunch of rambling, I hope you didn't get too confused by it.}

Lils: -Goes red in the face.- No, I understood it /perfectly/ Potter. Me: Oh dear...)
The red head giggled at Anya's comment before feeling a shoulder brush with hers to shove her to the right. Bloody hell! Couldn't that boy just leave her alone? Her eyes flashed as he gave her back the money and turned to Anya.
Lily threw the money on the ground and stepped back from the intruding boy. "God, where do you get off talking to people like that?" She demanded angrily of the ebony haired boy in front of her. "You're sick, you know that?" She asked as she whipped out her wand and pointed it at his chest. "Now look, Potter. I've already told you not to touch me, have we forgotten the rules of the simple game so quickly?" She asked sarcastically as she pretended to pout at him. Quickly, her pout turned into an angry frown as she hissed at him, in a tone she hated to use.
"I think it's you who is wrong, Pothead. Why don't you go and die quietly so none of us have to listen to your stupidity, for all we know, it could be contaigous." The red head said as she wrinkled her nose and took quicker paces up to the castle. Stupid brat, always ruined her calm afternoons.

James sighed deeply, feeling his chest heave at the exhale, and stopped in his tracks, watching Evans quickly try to outrun him to the castle, her auburn hair billowing behind her at the speed she was going. James didn't know why Evans thought it was such a safe haven; anywhere she could go, James could follow. Unless it was the Girls' lavatory, but no matter, James was never one to abide by the rules. James also had a bad experience trying to get up to the Girls' dormitories last year, the stairs sort of turned into a slide. Even James didn't know why or how that happened. But if Lily decided to go up there, James was ready this time, all he needed to do is grab his broom and fly up there. I'll say this once again, James Potter isn't one to abide by the rules.
Follow her, you moron.
And so he did, his non-moving figure began to trail behind Lily once more.
James may have called himself a 'moron' there, but believe me, when James was calling himself a foul name, he made sure that he was the 'King' of them. James Potter deserved no less.
"Die, Evans?" James asked in an amused tone. "I knew you were hotheaded, and that hotheadedness is lovely, by the way, I like that about you. Anyway, I knew you were hotheaded, but /morbid/? It's wrong to wish a death upon somebody. Especially someone as great as me. If you want to wish death on someone it should be that greasy Snivelly Snape."
James couldn't help but snigger. His mouth once again turning into a mischievous smirk.
"And anyway, even if I were /stupid/ and it were contagious, I'm sure everyone would /want/ to catch it from me."
Ah, James was so glad he had a quick thinking mind. Witty remarks came with a snap of your fingers.

Lily physically screamed. What else was she meant to do? He hounded her like some mutt who wanted a bone, but he most certainly wouldn't get a bone around this neck of the woods. She turned to him, for the umpteenth time with her emerald eyes sending death glares at him. She felt like she could burst into flame at any moment, she was so angry!
"Look, Potter," She spat his name out, like she had some sort of bitter taste in her mouth and continued stating clearly, "this is the last time I tell you," She whipped out her wand and wrapped one clenched fist around the handle.
"Locomotor Mortis." She watched with a satisfied smirk as his arms and legs were bound together before he fell onto the soft turf, as stiff as a board. She leant down somewhat into his face and continued her little speech.
"Leave. Me. Alone." She stated clerly, her hair falling from behind her ear and dangling around her neck as she bent down. "Stop thinking the whole world revolves around you and grow up." She said angrily. He had forced her to stoop to his level of immaturity and she hated that even more than she hated him.

{{Beh. There isn't much that James can do here, is there?}}
James jumped slightly, somewhat surprised by Lily's yelping scream. Did he really annoy her that much? Merlin, Evans was such a drama queen.
And as Evans whipped out her wand, James did the same, his reflexes were very quick from playing all that Quidditch. And hastily, James shouted out the first spell that he could think of, and the first that wouldn't /hurt/ Evans. "Protego," James drawled out calmly, a sigh escaping his lips.
Even though James' reflexes were quick, they weren't quick enough. The body-binding hex that Lily had yelled had seeped through James' shield charm, well most of it anyway. A weak amount of the hex had bounced back her way, only strong enough to bind either a person's arms or legs was shot at an angle, heading Anya's way.
James felt his own limbs snapping against his body as he fell to the ground, landing with a small thud. Wincing slightly, James tried to wiggle his legs subtlely, and it worked. So, he arms were bound, not his leg limbs. This probably meant that Anya would have free control of her arms, but no control of her legs.
As Lily made her little speech, James smiled, a very amused look on his features to match the playful look in his hazel eyes contained from underneath now severely crooked glasses. James pulled himself into a kneeling position and then to a stand. He felt the urge to rumple up his hair, but obviously, he couldn't as his arms were bound. Argh, that was going to bug the hell out of him. "Evans," James mused. "Next time you're going to have to try harder than that if you want to hex me."
James smirked, his head unnecessarily nodding towards his unparalyzed legs.
