Lily narrowed her eyes, "Are you laughing at me James Potter?" She asked, though her eyes showed a flicker of amusement. "I don't know, those house elves are pretty sweet, and besides none of them have this horrid red hair." She said as she tugged on one loose strand which was coiling around her neck. "It's nie to help people, and Madam Pince can't look after the library unless people help, so I just help a bit more to make up for those people who don't pull their weight." She said as she let her finger follow the marks on the table. What was it with the explanations today? She didn't have to justify anything to Potter, and yet she wanted to....why?

'Laugh... At you?! Never!' James said, choking back a snigger. 'And trust me you look 1000 times better than a house elf... Even with the red hair. Which I don't think is too horrid by the way!' He blushed a little before laughing again 'It's ok...' He said 'You don't have to explain yourself to me. You like cleaning the library, good for you! Your choice...' he trailed off 'Of course I'd prefer to destroy the Library so maybe that's where our wires are crossing.' He shrugged 'I'm very proud of you for tidying up! That better?'

"Much better," She said as she patted his face. "You'd destroy the library? Why? What did it ever do to you?" She asked as her emerald eyes gazed around at the shelves fondly before returning to James' face.

James blushed a little harder as she patted his face and then looked around the library with sever distrust.
'Well,' he said, 'There's her..' he glared at the Librarian 'She hates me... I hate her.. It's this thing we do...' he shrugged 'And then theres the general... Book area...' he shrugged again 'I wouldn't destroy it.. Just don't like it that much...'

Remus silently watched the conversation evolving about him. So much for James' help, he thought, head placed in hands. But James was getting on so well with Lily, so Remus might as well let them talk without him interrupting. But then he sneezed.

"Bless you Remus." Lily said with a smile, "So what's new in your life?" She asked as her attention turned slightly away from James and onto Remus, although her eyes wandered to Potter's face before resuming their position upon Lupin. Leaning her head in her hands, Lily gazed at him with a small grin planted on her face as she heard all the things James disliked about the library and waiting for Remus' answer.

"Thank you." Remus nodded, thinking for a moment on how to answer Lily's question. And with a glance at James, answered: "Lots." Brushing auburn locks from his pale face, Remus sighed softly, amber eyes glancing back to Lily and then to James.

"Why the heavy sigh? Wait, is this another thing which I shouldn't ask about?" Lily asked cryptically. "Because if it is, tell me and I won't ask again." She said, Lily didn't want to offend anyone yet she was curious as to what it was that Remus wouldn't expand upon. She considered Remus a friend, maybe not a best friend, but still a mate. Thinking about it if Lily had a problem it was either James or Remus that were there first.
Glancing back at James she wondered if it was what they had been talking about before, before she had interupted. What if it had been important? 'Lily Evans you silly moo, here you are joking around with James when Remus obviously wants to talk to him.' She thought silently, she didn't realise that she had called James by his forename until a few minutes later. Possibly it was a turning point in their relationship as friends.

"Err. This is something you shouldn't ask about," Remus nodded, a blush coming suddenly to his pale cheeks. "I was, erm, talking to James about..- relationships." It was true, but not /totally/. As Remus and James had been talking about Sirius and Remus. And about Remus' 'feelings'.

Lily flustered with her robes, "Well, I should probably get going anyway. Now I've done my good turn for the day," She said as she pointed to the now neat shelf of books. Grinning she got up and walked over to her starting position, grabbing her bag, she biskly walked from the library, feeling a little happier for talking to the two boys. Her strides had almost what could be described as a skip, although she wouldn't admit that to herself, and so Lily Evans walked down the hallway, smiling gently to herself.

James grinned, guiltily as Lily left, running a hand through his hair. Oops, he thought, there you were flirting with Lily... Wait a min... You were flirting with EVANS? How strange...
He trailed off and looked at Remus again, showering him with his full attention 'So,' he said 'Have you decided what your going to do?'

Remus sighed softly, and shrugged, his blush finally leaving his pale cheeks. "Tell him, I guess. It'll eat me up if I don't." Remus answered, glancing about to see if anyone was listening. Not that anyone would know who they were talking about.
