Scowling at Lily, Sirius rubbed his back. "That hurt you know, Evans!" he said some what irritatedly, "And what did you move for? You're comfy!" Still scowling, Sirius sat down in Lily's recently vacated seat. "Ooh!" he gasped girlishly, "It's still warm!" Having sat back in the seat, he turned once more to Lupin. "Well? Why is that... that Slytherin... that scum in here?"

Lily roled her eyes at Sirius. He could be so immature at times. She sighed idely. Personally, she didn't care that there was a Slytherin in their carriage, as long as they didn't bother her.
"Sorry Sirius"
She then looked at Remus, wondering the same thing. Normally he didn't care for Slytherins.

"Yeah, so you should be!" Again, Sirius's tone had changed. His confident voice rang around the carriage - his arrogance boosted a little by the fact that he had received an apology from Lily Evans.
He did, however, remain unaware of the rolling of the eyes - or at least, he pretended to remain that way.
"So!" he said rapidly changing the subject, choosing to ignore the Slytherin girl until Remus answered. "How were your holidays? Go anywhere...exotic?"

Lily frowned slightly at Sirius's response. It would do him some good to be a little humble for once. Though she didn't know if it was possible.
"I know I didn't. I was stuck at home with y family all summer."
Her family could be quite boring at times, considering they were muggles and she was a witch. She had been almost completely disconnected with the wizzarding world for her summer.

Sirius nodded sympathetically. "Yeah, you muggles can't have a lot of fun..." he remarked, "Mind you, my summer wasn't the best, either. I got shouted at for most of it."
Reminded of his family life, the boy fell silent. Why had he brought the matter up? He was only going to upset himself...
Biting his lip, his eyes began to shine. Rubbing them furiously, halting any tears that threatened to well up, Sirius began to speak again.
"My Uncle Boris got mauled by a couple of Red Caps, though!" he said, forcing a hoot of laughter, "Nasty business! He came home with half of his flesh hanging off. Told us that the little buggers refused to eat any more of him. They said he tasted of something horrible. I always told him that he should stop buying that muggle aftershave!
I'm looking forward to going back to school though," he commented, rapidly directing the subject away from family, "Can't wait to see Snivellus again. I got some amazing joke stuff from Diagon Alley - not to mention some more insults stashed away for him!"

Lily noded, deciding not to presue the family part. She chuckled slightly at the aftershave comment. She too didn't like it, though she had gotten used to it. A small frown appeared on her face at the mention of Snape.
"You really should leave that boy alone for once"
Yes, she knew she was always nagging them about it, but you know it wasn't the best thing for them to do. She particulairly didn't care for the boy, but she didn't go around teasing and pranking him.

Remus frowned at Sirius. "She's my friend," he retorted, though he had the feeling Sirius wasn't listening anymore.

"Why?!" Sirius exclaimed, "He's there to be picked on! Maybe if he washed his hair, didn't smell, was useful, didn't cry so much, accepted he was stupid, and did something to his nose, we wouldn't tease him so much! Would we J.." Sirius went to nudge James Potter - but the seat beside him did not contain his friend.
Sighing Sirius changed his words, "We wouldn't tease him as much as we do now. Anyway, Lily, why are you sticking up for him? He's an ugly git who follows you around! And he's a Slytherin! And if he'd kill me and James if he got the chance. Why are you defending him?"
In a mock suspicious tone, Sirius queried, "He's not paying you, is he?!"

Lily let out a sarcastic laugh at his last comment. She really didn't know why she was sticking up for him, except that she knew what they were doing was inmature.
No, he's not, but I just think it's immature to make fun of him and such like that. Unlike you, I'm above that.
She rolled her eyes slightly at him before looking around curious.
"How much you want to bet James's going to mis the train?"

"Oh, Miss High-and-Mighty, are we?!" Sirius retorted, "And in answer to your question - he won't miss the train. He's probably already on it - but waiting for us to go and find him." Even though his manner was assertive to the ear, Sirius couldn't help but doubt his own words. He had already walked almost the entire length of the train - and James hadn't been in any of the compartments he had passed.
Having dealt with Lily, Sirius turned to Remus, face masked in disbelief. "What?! You... you... She's your friend?! She's a Slytherin! She can't be your friend! Are you feeling okay?!"

“Being in a different house can’t mean you can’t be friends, Sirius. We’re all different, yet we can be friends.” Remus retorted, amber eyes glittering dangerously.

Lily raised an eyebrow at Sirius before glacing at Remus. She decided to stay out of this, seeing that she would probably just make matters worse by sticking up for Remus.

"You're missing the point!" Sirius yelled throwing his hands up in the air in exasperation, "If she were in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, I wouldn't have a problem! But she's a Slytherin Remus! A Slytherin! How could you stoop so low?!" Frowning, Sirius folded his arms over his chest and slumped down into the seat, catching Lily's expression. "What are you smirking at Evans?" he asked bitterly, "Bet you're enjoying this, aren't you!"

Remus stood up, frowning at Sirius. “Look, Sirius! Who my friends are has nothing to do with you!” Remus cried.
