Robyn West's soft black locks had fallen loose from behind her ears once again. As always she couldn't sleep, she suffered a terrible case of insomnia, she always found that wandering outside, under the night sky helped to clear her head, she had often been found, fast asleep up a tree on several mornings. Her cold, grey eyes were rained on the ground as she walked in her faded, black Night-gown. She glided gently across the grounds, sighing gently to herself as she went. If Marco knew of her nightly trips outside he'd go ape, warning her over and over of the dangers in the Grounds at night but she didn't care, she never listened, never cared...
She muttered quietly to herself, singing a slow, sweet, haunting melody as she went...
'Why can't I just be normal again? Why can't someone take away my pain? Why did they make me like this? Why did they curse me to be like this? I don't want this... I want to be normal again.. To be human again...'

The night was cool and calm. A slight breeze blew over the lake where the Giant squid could be found swimming gently around the in the deep crisp water doing nothing in particular. The night stars twinkled overhead, and there seemed to not be a cloud in the sky. Down by the lake, with her feet in the water, sat Devin. She was dressed in a strange green cloak, and had a large black smudge of something on her forehead.
It was most calming, sitting with her feet in the water. It was soo cool and deep. She longed to see the bottom of it. Her short, curly brown hair blew gently out of her face with the breeze. It was times like this that she loved to be outside. Night was one of the few times she could actually go out without wearing those bloody sunglasses.
If you were so close as to look into her eyes, you would see that her pupils were so dialated that there was no color left in her eye. Where there used to be a deep shade of brown, there was only black and white. Because of this strange defection she had wonderful vision in the night. Though this did not do her much good as she had her back to the castle.

Robyn' eyes caught sight of the figure of Devin, feet dipped in the Lake. She smiled softly, her singing stopped, if she listened hard enough she might just hear the distant echo of her silky voice, sailign over the almost empty grounds. She walked slowly over to where Devin sat, her hair flying into her eyes slightly as she did so...
"Hey..." she called softly... "Whatcha doin' out here so late at night?" she added softly...

Devin had not expected the arrival of another student out so late. "Looking." she replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Seeing the bewildered expression upon Robyn's face she explained more thoroughly. "I can see best at night." She then rehearsed the well practiced speech she had prepared for if anyone were to question anything about her eyes. "It is a disease I was born with." Ok.. So it wasn't much of a speech, but Devin had practiced hard to make it sound convincing.
She looked out over the lake again. "It's beautiful. The outdoors." Not only did this help her change the subject, but it was also a very true statement. The bright moon reflected a pale glowing light upon the calm water, and the leaves waved gently in the crisp breeze. No, there was nothing more beautiful than this.

Robyn nodded, accepting the grils reasons without a word. She let herself sit down next to the girl, she looked around, agreeing fully with the other girls views... "Indeed, I love it, especially at night..." she muttered, her eyes glittering softly as she surveyed the moon and it's reflection in the Lake. She smile softly, she loved the Moon, it was always so big and beautiful, it was just so entrancing, she couldn't help but look at it...

Devin was glad to have company besides Lanelle for once. Now, don't get me wrong Lanelle is her best and pretty much her only friend, but it was nice to talk to someone new. "So... What are you doing on the grounds this late?" Sure it was a pretty boring conversation, but Devin was having one of her sane moments and was rather curious. "I heard you singing." she said quietly, trying not to embarass the girl. Devin knew that if she was ever caught singing it embarassed her to know that someone had been listening.

((I feel so sorry for Jayna but it must be done! I am forcing her to go outside at night! Hahahaa! Jayna- *Screams loudly* Hope you don't mind if I join in! ^^))
Silently another figure roamed the grounds outside. Jayna Marsh, eyes wide with fear, walked along the banks of the lake dressed all in black. You might not even notice her were it not for her silver hair which seemed to 'glow' in the night. As her efforts to cover her hair were in vain it was somewhat messy but that was the least of her worries.
"Why did I come out her anyway?" She mumbled, trying to remember. There was an important reason. For a second a thought about hunting werewolves crossed her mind and she almost laughed. Hunt werewolves indeed! Jayna could barely read a book about them without wanting to grab her wand and hide under the covers. No that was definitly not the reason.
Suddenly it hit her! She came to look for her homework, and woe behold, there it was stuck between a rock not far ahead. As she ran to pick ip up she sighed. "I am here risking my life for a piece of parchment. I don't even LIKE potions!" Her mouth closed and she turned sheet white. Not far ahead she saw two figures talking. Who or what were they? Keeping her wand close at hand she slowly inched foward.

"I'm an insomniac..." Robyn muttered softly... "I can't sleep very well, someti,es I can't sleep at all..." she added quietly, rather ashamed of her little 'secret'... Robyn blushed as the girl metioned her singing... "I can't really sing very well..." she said honestly...

"You were a fine singer." Devin added. "You should consider yourself lucky." The girl was lucky. All she needed was a small dose of a sleeping potion before she goes to bed and viola, insomnia cured. Ah well, It wasn't Devin's problem to be dealing with anyway.
"I am very tired right now, but I want to be outside." Devin suddenly realized just how tired she was, and was surprised that she hadn't fallen facefirst into the lake hours ago.

Robyn smiled softly... "Thanks..." she muttered softly... "I like being outside, it clears my head and helps me get to sleep betetr, I've fallen alseep outside before..." she added softly with a quiet giggle at her personal silliness...

"Join the club." said Devin chuckling. "At least its better than waking up with your feet still in the lake." She laughed at how strange she was.
Sighing, she became a little more serious. "It really helps me relax too sometimes, It's funny how some people think that being in the dark would be the last thing they needed after a bad dream." Darkness had always calmed her down, especially after dreaming about her past.

Robyn smiled softly, her eyes glinting in her sweet little way that they did when she smiled... "It's nice to know that I'm not the only one in this school who lives for the nightime..." Robyn said with a sweet little giggle... "I only go through the day so that I can relax out here at night..." she said honestly...

"I go through the day because... Well, I guess I have to, don't I?" Devin had never really thought about it before. What happened during the day just sort of happened. She never really had much to look forward too. All she really did was exist, only worrying about what was happening at the present time.
"I suppose the night time is one of my favorites though." Said Devin thoughtfully. Perhaps she should worry about the future more often. Thats what normal people do. They wonder about what they will be when they grow up, who they will marry, and things like that. Yeah, thats what normal people wondered about, but then again... Devin wasn't normal. Was she?

Robyn smiled softly... "I guess I've always been weird like that..." she muttered... "Living today for the sake of tomorrow, waiting 'till my favourite time, watching the day slip by while I'm moving it along trying, desperately to get ahead of it..." Robyn did that often, talking with little or no sense in her words, to her it made perfect sense but it didn't to others...

Devin was in the middle of saying. "I know exactly what you mean." but was cut off when she noticed something creeping up behind Robyn. Ah, just another student. Wow, her vision in the night really did come in handy from time to time. Judging by her tie she was a Gryffindor.
"Hey! You, the Gryffindor! What are you doing out here? And put your wand away." Devin called into the night at the girl only yards away from Robyn. "What are you trying to do scare us to death?"
//Short, but hey. It works right?//
